Uncover the Estate
The Leckford Estate stands as a legacy to Spedan Lewis and his devotion to agricultural experimentation, the natural environment, and the wellbeing of his Partners. It offers a wonderful place to visit, as well as a space for people to learn and Partners to holiday.
While rooted in history, today’s estate is incredibly innovative. The John Spedan Lewis Trust was established here and is dedicated to the study and conservation of local flora and fauna.
Historical
The Estate has a rich history, and while elements of its running have modernised, some traditions have remained. For example, Partners from across the country have holidayed with us since 1937.
We continue to provide housing for Partners, for those that are still working on the estate and for those that have now retired. In addition we offer houses for rent on the open market for those wanting to move into the villages of Longstock or Leckford.
Educational
As well as offering fun and relaxation, Leckford is the perfect place to learn. We’re proud that it’s become a place of education and training for the industry, and an example of farming best practice.
Sustainable
We’re passionate about keeping the Estate – and our planet – protected, productive and picturesque for years to come. Our sustainability schemes help to ensure this happens.
Our farm is committed to farming through regenerative farming practices and over a third of the estate provides natural habitats for plants and wildlife.
Producing good food well, looking after and enhancing the environment, sourcing materials sustainably and treating suppliers fairly all drive the day to day operations across the estate.
Community
As a place to live and work, it’s important to us that we work closely with our community, putting them at the heart of our operations - it’s more than just a business address for us.
Therefore we are careful to make sure our operations don’t impact the lives of those who live close by. We support community events and provide and maintain facilities that are used by local residents
