The Brief & Vision

The objective for this project was to transform an area of the garden into a multi purpose outdoor space for both relaxation and observing nature.  A structured seating area was created that felt intimate and enclosed, yet remained deeply connected to its natural environment through the introduction of water and wildlife friendly planting.

Our Design Approach

To create a sense of vertical interest and architectural "enclosure," we designed a substantial softwood timber pergola. This structure serves as a frame for the garden, providing support for climbing plants that will, over time, create a living canopy. Positioned adjacent to this is a wildlife pond, intentionally situated so the movement of water and visiting wildlife can be enjoyed directly from the new seating area.

The Installation & Craftsmanship

The foundation of this retreat is a premium sandstone patio, featuring a natural tonal variation that complements the timber's warmth. Our team installed a trellis boundary to provide privacy without sacrificing light, creating a geometric backdrop for the softer planting layers. Every element, from the handcrafted pergola to the low level metal edging of the borders, was executed with the meticulous attention to detail that defines our professional service.

The Finished Result

This project has successfully created a tranquil haven that balances structural hard landscaping with soft, naturalistic elements. The combination of the rustic timber pergola and the reflective surface of the pond offers a timeless aesthetic. It is now a fully realised outdoor space, a spot to relax amidst soft climbing greenery and the quiet theatre of a thriving garden pond.
