Spring into Summer
While the trees have been selected for their autumn colour, the beds are planted to provide year round colour. The herbaceous perennials of spring give way to bold beds of Primula Candelabra by June, interspersed with the towering colour of Foxgloves, day Lilies and Lupins.
Come July, the Waterlilies begin their show, accompanied ashore by many varieties of bright Lobelia and feathery Astilbe, to form a symphony of whimsical summer colour.
Autumn
As summer turns to autumn, the Tricyrtis, Rudbeckia and Asters offer a final flourish of colour, as the gardeners prepare to cut all the edges down to ground level.
Winter
Although the garden closes its gates at the end of October and the garden continues to put on a wonderful autumn display, winter brings new drama to the garden. Behind closed gates the skeletal trees occasionally reflect in the water, and on frosty days a blanket of white gives the garden a seasonal magical feel.
