Come to Longstock Park Water Garden's evening event on Wednesday 22nd May in aid of Hampshire Fostering Network. Join us for an enchanting evening surrounded by nature amidst the stunning surroundings of Longstock Park, where you can explore the beauty of the gardens, meander through the arboretum, savour treats at the cafe and farm shop and browse the walled nursery with its wide selection of plants and trees.
The evening will also include storytelling with the talented writer Andy Hussey. Andy will captivate the younger visitors with his delightful tale, ‘Any Trout About?’
He’ll guide you through an enchanting tale with Charlie and Dad as they embark on a charming riverside expedition in pursuit of the elusive trout, encountering a range of animal friends along the way, heightening the thrill of their quest. Perfect for kids (and grown-ups alike), set against the picturesque Longstock Park Water Garden.
It's an evening filled with stunning scenery, community spirit and a chance to help make a difference in the lives of Hampshire's foster children.
What to Expect
The Garden is approximately seven acres of lush greenery, beautifully planted beds, intimate pathways and small islands connected by quaint bridges - taking you on a journey through this intimate space. At a leisurely pace you can see all of the garden in about an hour and a half or you can spend a little longer, there's no rush.
Beyond the garden are Longstock Park Grounds and a walk through the Arboretum. The Arboretum is planted with some spectacular trees and forms part of the grounds that surround the water garden and the farm shop, cafe and nursery. It is possible to walk between the garden and the farm shop and nursery but the walk includes some steep slopes so you may decide to drive between the two locations which will take just a few short minutes.
Longstock Park Farm Shop and Nursery will be open until 8pm and the cafe will be serving drinks and cakes, so you can stop off for light refreshments and indulge in some evening shopping in this stunning setting.
Storytelling Sessions
- 5:30pm & 6:30pm (approx 15-20mins each)
Andy will host two storytelling sessions both aimed at children between 4 - 7 years. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. No need to book and the storytelling sessions are free, however we may need to limit the number for each storytelling session if the event is busy.
The sessions will be signposted at the Garden.
