In 2022 we moved from a dairy herd to a beef suckler herd, carefully choosing cattle from the Hereford breed, a native British breed producing a really good quality meat.
As regenerative farmers our beef herd will graze our semi-natural areas of water meadows and chalk grassland, helping us to manage these vital areas of land which are a key part of our regenerative farming operations.
As sustainable farmers we plant herbal leys that form a critical part of our regenerative crop rotation. Our beef cattle will graze these areas too, helping to return fertility and improve soil health, and meaning our cattle spend more time outdoors.
In addition, no growth hormones are used at any stage – and that will never change. It's all part of our commitment to high standards of animal welfare.
